BiographyDouglas Ziedonis, MD, MPH, is internationally recognized leader in mental health and addiction recovery and wellness, including research in mindfulness, compassion, wisdom, and dignity. He is a global leader and researcher on Open Dialogue. He is an addiction psychiatrist, as well as general psychiatrist, whose work has included public health, prevention, health disparities, and clinical perspectives. He has been a faculty in the Departments of Psychiatry at UCLA, Yale, Rutgers, UMass, and UC San Diego. On December 1st 2020 he will begin to serve as the Executive Vice President for the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences and as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the UNM Health system. He served as the Executive Director for the UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness and on the Executive Council of the Institute for Empathy and Compassion.
